Michele Gentile is a multifaceted individual with an unwavering passion for filmmaking. Hailing from the south of Germany, he has accomplished much in his illustrious career. Following the completion of his technical college entrance qualification, Michele embarked on a life-changing journey to Australia in 2005, where he worked in coal mining and eventually decided to pursue mining engineering at Brisbane University. However, fate had different plans for him, as he was compelled to return to Germany due to mandatory military service. During his deployment as a patrolling soldier in Afghanistan in 2009, he produced his first documentary, "On Mission," which was set in Kabul.
Michele's artistic odyssey led him to Palestine, where he pioneered the "Cinema Jenin" peace project in 2010. Collaborating with Palestinian students, he began working on his first feature film, "The Projectionist," which unfortunately came to a halt after his co-producer, Juliano Mer Khamis, was tragically assassinated. Despite this setback, Michele remained undaunted and went on to co-direct the critically acclaimed film "The Court in 2013."
As a director, Michele has helmed numerous successful productions, including "The Projectionist - The Story of a Film," "Goodbye Syria," and "Paddy's Mum" for the EinsPlus format of ARD - !LEBEN. He has also made a name for himself in TV editing by contributing to popular shows such as "Dr. Klein," "SOKO Stuttgart," "Großstadtrevier," and a German TV format on ZDF, "Team Alpin."
In 2016, Michele established his own production company, "Little Big Talents GmbH," which specializes in creating commercials for reputable companies, designing TV series intros, and developing 3D animations.
Since 2019, Michele has dedicated himself tirelessly to his short film debut, "Jamil," and his highly anticipated feature film debut, "Witness 26," as a director and author.
Michele's immense talent has also attracted the attention of Netflix, where he served as a creative producer, co-director, and editor in 2023. His distinctive vision and creativity are certain to captivate audiences worldwide.
His latest project, "War & Justice" that he co-directs with Marcus Vetter, is set to make its world premiere at the Filmfest Munich in July 2023.- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
